Circumstance as the source of perspective

Societies in decadence often end in refusing the world as a reality, they say “life is just an illusion, a dream”. Or the Christians that say: “leave it all to god, he will take care of things”. This is all escapism, not wanting to accept their reality.

Societies in ascent really believe in themselves and the world. They think that the world has value, meaning and that they can find happiness in “worldly things”.

This leads me to conclude that every perspective (either of world or self) is therefore conditioned relative to the individual’s circumstance.

"Religions want to “cleanse” your mind. Spiritual movements want to “purify” your mind or “heal” your mind. Many professionals want to “straighten out the thinking” of your mind. Many groups want to move you from “wrong thinking” to “right thinking.” Some want to guide you to your “right mind.” Some want to teach you to “halt the constant movement” of your mind. None of those have a clue that they are missing the point completely: nothing needs to be done to your “mind” and nothing needs to happen to benefit your “mind.” The mind is illusion."

"He who is open to new knowledge is not afraid of losing his illusions."

"It really dosen’t matter what you label yourself with, it’s what you do what matters most. Identifications and beliefs are really illusions that we create for different purposes or rewards, but we are none of that, those are just things the universe has conditioned us to be or believe."

"I see now, this is all a game. Me against my own mind. It only embraces illusions in my eyes, disturbing the peace inside and setting fire to the soul with desire."

"The daily experience of the self is so familiar, and yet the brain science shows that this sense of the self is an illusion. Psychologist Susan Blackmore makes the point that the word ‘illusion’ does not mean that it does not exist — rather, an illusion is not what it seems. We all certainly experience some form of self, but what we experience is a powerful depiction generated by our brains for our own benefit."

"As we’ll explore later, dualism is not a “character flaw” or defect. It’s a complex survival mechanism deeply rooted in the structure and function of the brain—which, along with other mechanisms, can be changed through experience."

"Our selfish desires clash with others people’s selfish desires, which then leads the suffering of the egos for the achievement of a personal illusion. Be selfless and there will be no suffering, even if the other fullfills his wishes, he will always be unsatisfied as the human condition is meant to be."

"Having seen that you are a bundle of memories held together by attachment, step out and look from the outside. You may perceive for the first time something which is not memory. You cease to be Mr-so-and-so, busy about his own affairs. You are at last at peace. You realise that nothing was ever wrong with the world - you alone were wrong and now it is all over."
"It is not me who fears, it is the self that creates the fear. Expose the self to it’s fear and it will be desilusioned, you will witness at first some unpleasant sensation (some brain proceses take place, lowering oxygen levels in the brain), but it will cease with concentrated breathing. Do this with all your fears and you will be fearless. Like the Buddha said: “The whole secret of existence is to have no fear. Never fear what will become of you, depend on no one."
"My mind always is creating these images of events, creating expectations of things that never will happen. To me my mind is illusory and false. Self-knowledge is important and self-control must be implemented, a discipline to the mind, like discipline to a pet, because you’re an animal just as the pet."
